53rd Annual Live Oak Festival- Columbus, Texas

The 53rd annual Live Oak Art & Music Festival, scheduled for May 18-20, 2007 will return to its roots with the introduction of the inaugural Juried Art Show, hosted by the Live Oak Art Center. The festival, most of which takes place around the courthouse square, also features art and retail vendors and live music throughout the week. In addition to nationally recognized acts, local talent is scheduled, such as the highly acclaimed and unique Columbus High School Steel Pan Band. Other events include the annual Greg Lundgren 5k Run, an antiques fair, dinner theater, and children's games. The event kicks off early Friday morning with a breakfast at the Stonewall Fire Station, followed by a rodeo and dance that evening. Red, White, and Buda

Red White and Buda is an Independence Day celebration of our nation's birth. July 4th will be celebrated with a fireworks display and patriotic recorded music in the park.  Families are encouraged to bring a picnic supper, watch the fireworks and visit with neighbors.  Sponsored by Buda Area Chamber of Commerce.  We hope you will plan to attend. 

It is a relaxed, fun-filled, family oriented pre-Fourth of July Celebration, full of eating, playing and fellowship. Frontier Days and Old Settler’s Reunion

Bridgeport got its name from the toll bridge built for the Butterfield Stagecoach line over the West Fork of the Trinity River. The town grew up around the stagecoach stop, and remained even after the stage quit running during the Civil War.

The festival begins on Saturday with outdoor contests, a carnival, entertainment in the park, food booths and arts and crafts. Games include horseshoes, washers and something special for the kids. They usually have stagecoach rides as well. At night you can partake of the barbecue supper, then attend the street . A rodeo parade takes place the next Thursday, followed by three days of rodeo.

Spring Ho Festival

More than a quarter of a century ago, Lampasas' first Spring Ho Festival was held. The Spring Ho event is now held annually the second week of July to commemorate the rejuvenating powers of Sulphur Springs. The Spring Ho Committee has charge of the event, which has grown dramatically since its inception more than two decades ago.
Dancing, BBQ cook off, talent contest, gospel singing, fireworks, fishing, a county fair, arts and crafts, washer pitching, and concessions are just part of the week's offerings.  Also featured are attractions like a carnival with rides and games, water sports, running races, a pet parade and the grand parade complete with parade marshals.

Brady/McCulloch County World Championship Goat Cookoff
August 31-Sept. 1, 2007 (Labor Day weekend)

The Brady/McCulloch County Chamber of Commerce will hold its 34th Annual World Championship Goat Cookoff during over Friday and Saturday of Labor Day Weekend at Richards Park. The celebration features 125 cooking teams assembled from all over Texas and the United States, cooking goat each in their own way. Cooking teams have traveled from as far as England to participate. Over 100 arts and crafts booths, kids games, horseshoe and washer pitching, and other events round out the day at the park.

At the end of the day, judging of the cooking team entrants occurs with prizes being awarded to top three teams. A Super Bowl winner is also announced from entrants of previous winners. Many other winners are announced, such as the Best-Looking Cooking Camp, the best designed arts and crafts booths, and the winners from the horseshoe and washer pitching competition. Entertainment includes children's games, clowns, music and mini-train rides, plus plenty of food and cold drinks.
